At the time of writing this post global COVID19 cases are 5492996 out of which 2167913 recovered and 351576 died.
Internationally a lot of claims about different drugs efffective in curing cases of covid19.I don’t comment on any such claims.Only one thing that captures my mind that a vast majority of cases are getting cured and a vast majority of patient can withstand Covid19 infection without any symptoms.Those positive cases which do not have any symptom or developed any symptom as well as those cured would certainly have IgG antibody against corona in their blood.Which must be protective otherwise survival of such patient wouldnot have been possible.
So we can do passive immunization by plasma donated by survivors,which are available in plenty in covid19 cases.
Passive immunization we do in other diseases like Anti Rabies Serum for Rabies and Anti Tetanus Serum For tetanus etc.
Problems:
1.Donor Blood to be screened for HIV,Hepatitis B or other infection.
2.Donor Plasma needs to be cross matched with recipent blood for ABO and Rh Compatibility.
3.Separation of plasma from Donor blood
4.This should be given early to prevent complication
These are not very difficult task but require cost and effort.
All the positive cases who did not develop serious illness after three weeks of detection can be Screened for IgG by rapid test kits after that they can be requested for donating one unit blood which can be screened for HIV and Hepatitis B after that the plasma fraction can be separated and used for active Covid19 patients.In theory it holds good but medical science needs evidence from studies to apply at larger level.That is the problem today.
